Job Duties (DAY-TO-DAY functions):

¿             Provides leadership, direction, and oversight for the Business Analysis team. 
¿             Coaches and mentors BA Supervisors, supporting them in developing, mentoring, and managing their assigned Business Analysts. 
¿             Establishes clear expectations for BA practices, deliverables, quality, productivity, communication, and professional conduct. 
¿             Reviews BA workloads and assignments across projects to balance resources, identify capacity constraints, and address potential project risks. 
¿             Ensures Business Analysts consistently apply established standards, templates, processes, and requirements documentation practices. 
¿             Oversees the quality of business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability, and related BA deliverables. 
¿             Works with project managers, development managers, architects, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to ensure business needs are accurately understood. 
¿             Monitors BA performance, project assignments, deliverables, and organizational metrics to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. 
¿             Identifies training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to strengthen BA skills and improve organizational capability. 
¿             Provides leadership with regular status updates, early notification of risks, and actionable recommendations for addressing issues and improving outcomes.

A good candidate for this position meets the minimum qualifications and has demonstrated experience in business analysis, systems analysis, business process analysis, or a closely related field. You should have experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating business and system requirements; working with customers and technical teams; participating in the software development or project lifecycle; and using business analysis tools, techniques, and documentation standards. Strong candidates will also demonstrate the ability to analyze complex business problems, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences, manage competing priorities, and work effectively with project managers, developers, architects, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders.
Experience leading or mentoring other business analysts, coordinating work across multiple projects, reviewing requirements and deliverables for quality, and helping establish or improve business analysis standards is preferred. We are looking for someone who can move beyond completing individual assignments and contribute to the consistency, quality, and effectiveness of the BA organization. The successful candidate will be organized, accountable, responsive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a complex environment with competing priorities and stakeholders.

They will look for opportunities to improve standards, templates, intake, training, metrics, governance, tools, and overall efficiency¿and understand how those improvements contribute to the long-term modernization of TDCJ's application portfolio.
