Job Duties:

This position performs advanced-level correctional supervisory and administrative work that supports all training operations at a Regional Training Academy. Key responsibilities include directing staff engaged in conducting training programs, overseeing training schedules and curriculum development, conducting training needs assessments, and monitoring training quality for security and non-security staff. The role requires directing pre-service and in-service instruction, monitoring trainee performance, coordinating security instruction, assisting in formulating security and work procedures, and ensuring compliance with agency rules and regulations. Additional duties involve overseeing emergency response training, updating training programs to reflect policy changes, scheduling trainers and support services, and maintaining training facilities, equipment, records, and reports. This position ensures academy training operations meet agency standards and support overall correctional readiness.

You'd be a GOOD fit if:

  • High school diploma or GED
     
  •  6+ years of correctional experience (Correctional Officer, Supervisor, Food Service/Laundry Manager, Law Enforcement, or Jailer), including experience as a mid-level manager (supervisor of supervisors)
     
  • 3+ years of experience supervising employees
     
  • Willing and able to complete all required instructor certification courses within 6 months of hire

  •  Experience in curriculum development and providing instruction
     
  • Working knowledge of adult education principles and instructional/curriculum design
     
  • Skill designing lesson plans and training riot control/defensive tactics
