Job Duties:

This Position will report to the Region V office in Plainview, TX.

Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates agriculture program activities to include field and edible crops and livestock production and contract operations; develops and recommends program guidelines, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; and monitors compliance with policies and procedures. 

Participates in the development of program goals and objectives; prepares and reviews reports on the effectiveness of program production activities; conducts special investigations, program analyses, and research studies and recommends improvements; and prepares program budget requests. 

Confers with staff on agriculture production and contract issues and problems to identify and implement solutions; and provides training and technical assistance in the program areas. 

Assigns and supervises the work of others.

You'd be a GOOD fit if:

You have a bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE).  

You have five years full-time, wage-earning agriculture or food science program administration experience. 

You have two years full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees

You'd be a GREAT fit if:

You have a Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) with major course work in Agriculture, Food Science, or a related field

You have knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and management. 

You have knowledge of farm and ranch management methods. 

You have knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes. 

You have knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred. 

You have the skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely. 

You have the skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public. 

You have the skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. 

Yous have the skill in administrative problem-solving techniques. 

You have the skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.
