Qualifications
The Institute for Governance and Civics at Florida State University seeks candidates for up to five Teaching Faculty positions (at any rank) to teach courses in our newly created Civics and Liberty Studies degree program.
Our approach is what we are calling a renewed civic pragmatism. This interdisciplinary degree program consists of two parts. One part examines civic formation through the liberal arts. The other part focuses on social science. The program integrates classical and modern texts, empirical social science, legal analysis, and rhetorical training to develop thoughtful, data-informed, and ethically grounded civic leaders.
We seek candidates from a broad array of academic backgrounds, including (but not limited to): political science, psychology, economics, communications, public policy, history, religion, philosophy, and more.
The successful candidate will be expected to show a commitment to the mission of enhancing civic awareness as well as readiness to contribute to the intellectual life and programmatic development of the IGC.
Qualifications
Completed Ph.D. by the date of hire.
Research interests that contribute to the study of liberty and American civics.
Potential for high impact publications.
