Posting Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Mechanical Engineering, will support a research group that develops novel microscopy instrumentation and applies advanced imaging technologies to biomedical questions, from individual protein structure and function to noninvasive optical approaches for cancer diagnosis. The primary focus of this role is generating, integrating, and analyzing data from complementary imaging and molecular methods. Will acquire label-free optical images using laboratory-developed and shared instruments; perform single-cell RNA sequencing, immunohistochemistry imaging, and spatial transcriptomics; and collect associated experimental, imaging, and molecular data. They will register, integrate, and analyze multimodal datasets to investigate biological and disease-related processes and will summarize, interpret, and document findings for investigators and research team members. The Technical Associate will also prepare cells, tissues, and other biological samples; conduct bench experiments; and perform standard and specialized sample-preparation, imaging, and molecular-analysis techniques. Responsibilities include coordinating sample receipt, delivery, preparation, and tracking and contributing to the development, evaluation, and modification of experimental protocols and research strategies. The individual will present results at laboratory meetings, recommend improvements to protocols and procedures, and may co-author manuscripts. They may coordinate multiple research projects and help organize laboratory activities. Additional duties include maintaining supplies and equipment, coordinating service and repairs, supporting laboratory events, monitoring safety compliance, preparing for inspections, and performing related duties.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or related field; a minimum of two years’ specialized experience with label-free optical imaging, scRNAseq, IHC, and spatial transcriptomics. (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate).

This position is 9 months in duration.
