About this role

The University of Utah is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to support research applications used for research integrity, compliance, conflict of interest, and institutional review board processes. The role partners with stakeholders, end users, and developers to define requirements, create technical documentation, configure systems, and support solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.

What you'll do:

  • Translate product vision into detailed specifications for the development team
  • Align information technology systems with business operations by analyzing and developing innovative solutions
  • Engage end users and stakeholders to document and communicate organization requirements
  • Translate organization requirements and user needs into user stories
  • Create and update documentation of detailed technical specifications and project plans
  • Present user requirements, functional specifications, technical specifications, and process flow diagrams to the development team
  • Participate in meetings to clarify requirements, create design approaches, provide training, and answer questions from the development team
  • Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline
  • Conduct work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgement

  • EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience)
  • Technical Business Analyst, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree
  • Technical Business Analyst, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical users
  • Web application design and implementation
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to analyze requirements and establish protocols
  • Strong organization skills' &'Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
