This position is in the Field Office section of the Construction and Materials Division.

The technical field intern (construction technician) performs semi-skilled technical or paraprofessional duties in connection with the construction of engineering projects. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
What you’ll do:
- Performs basic construction tests such as air, slump, moisture, compaction, aggregate gradation, and density; reports results to supervisor.
- Performs measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, and contractor payment estimates.
- Assists in inspection of bituminous and portland cement concrete plants and/or grading, base, bituminous or concrete paving.
- Maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to inspections; keeps supervisor informed of activities or unusual conditions; ensures projects meet department standards.
- Enters and records information regarding construction projects into computer programs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a relevant 2-year/associate’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
- 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
- Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
Special Working Conditions:
- Job requires moderate physical activity.
- This is a wage, non-benefits eligible position, working no more than 1,039 hours per year.
- The typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
- Basic math skills, consistent with high school level algebra, will be necessary to perform many of this title’s duties.
