Under general supervision operates, maintains, calibrates electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical laboratory instruments.

* Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and calibration services.

* Coordinate and perform unscheduled corrective maintenance.

* Generate and maintain all equipment maintenance records utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and distributes them to the supervisors to ensure DPH's compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.

* Train less experienced staff and advise supervisors with selecting new instrumentation when necessary.

* Create and maintain a milage/maintenance spreadsheet for Laboratory Vehicles

* Provide billing for services rendered to outside agencies utilizing the "Standard Invoice and Payment System” and filing travel forms for reimbursement.

Position Duties

State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and experience or training within the specific work area.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Minimum Qualifications

A good mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate all types of mechanical hand and power tools.

- Be able to read and understand electronic schematics and circuit diagrams.
- Communicate effectively with the general public and staff members.
- Ability to wear protective clothing.
- Have vision corrective to 20/40 and not colorblind.
- Able to lift 50 pounds to a height of 36 inches.
- Able to bend, stand or sit for a long period of time.
- Must be able to travel overnight for a period of up to four nights a week.
