About this role
RTX is an aerospace and defense company offering internships focused on complex engineering and technology projects. The Technical Publications–AI/ML Technical Developer Intern will develop and evaluate AI/ML prototypes, prepare structured technical data for analysis, and support integration into human-in-the-loop review workflows. The role also involves documenting model performance and collaborating with technical publications, quality assurance, and engineering stakeholders.
What you'll do:
- Assist in development of AI/ML prototypes to support technical data analysis and process improvement
- Work with structured technical data (e.g., Exstensible Markup Language (XML) -based documentation) to prepare datasets for analysis
- Develop and test machine learning models for classification, pattern recognition, or anomaly detection
- Evaluate model performance using measurable metrics (precision, recall, false positive rate)
- Build scripts and tools to support exploratory data analysis and preprocessing
- Support integration of AI-assisted outputs into a human-in-the-loop review workflow
- Document model assumptions, limitations, and improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with technical publications, Quality Assurance, and engineering stakeholders to validate prototype outputs
What they're looking for:
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session
- Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Experience with data preprocessing and model evaluation techniques
- Experience with natural language processing (NLP) concepts
- Experience collaborating in teams and managing tasks to meet deadlines
- Experience with Python programming and machine learning concept
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured data
- Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
