The Technology Development Program Software Engineer Track is a two-year early-career program where associates build and maintain scalable applications, gain technical and leadership skills, and collaborate on healthcare-focused technology initiatives.
What you'll do:
- Design and deliver scalable software solutions that drive innovation and improve healthcare outcomes as part of The Cigna Group’s Software Engineering track
- Learn by doing alongside peers, mentors, and cross‑functional partners through hands‑on projects, recruiting support, innovation efforts, community initiatives, and onboarding experiences
- Grow through a blend of core and track‑specific curriculum, including technical training, leadership development, and business exposure to support your development as a well‑rounded technologist
- Build strong relationships across the organization through networking, mentorship, cross‑functional collaboration, and informal peer engagement that support both personal and professional growth
What they're looking for:
- Full time candidates must have completed a bachelor's or master's degree in a technical program at the time of hire
- Additional degrees such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Math, Bioinformatics, or Healthcare Analytics will be considered if paired with strong coding experience and exposure to software development principles
- Familiarity with programming languages and tools such as Python or other coding languages, prompt engineering, JavaScript, SQL
- Academic coursework, research, or internships focused on machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, or generative AI
- Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies and their potential to reshape industries
- Interest in ethical AI, responsible innovation, and the intersection of AI and human-centered design
- Leadership or involvement in clubs, organizations, or technical competitions such as Hackathons, AI challenges, or research symposiums
- Effectively share ideas with technical and non‑technical audiences
- Build strong relationships and work well on diverse teams
- Analyze complex problems and create innovative solutions
- Understand how technology supports healthcare and connects to business goals
- Leverage personal and team strengths to drive results
