The New Mexico Works (NMW) program, administered through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) initiative, supports low-income families with children in achieving economic self-sufficiency. NMW offers job preparation, training, and employment services that help participants transition from government assistance to unsubsidized employment. By focusing on workforce development, family strengthening, and reducing dependency, NMW empowers families to build stable, long-term economic independence.

Due to Budget the pay rate for position will be $23.90

Why does the job exist?

 
To assist TANF participants find meaningful work experience which will lead to a career in unsubsidized employment and assist employers in hiring qualified TANF participants.

How does it get done?

 
In a fast-paced environment with high in-person traffic and high-volume phone use, employees will match TANF participant skills, goals and experience with employer's needs through job development, training, skill assessment, counseling services, interviewing, collaborating and networking as well as ongoing case management throughout the NM Works program.

Ideal Candidate

 
Customer Service experience in a business office environment.
Have Experience in recruiting jobs for others.
Capability to work collaboratively with colleagues, job seekers and employers.
Ability to embrace diversity and difficult personal circumstances in serving customers and colleagues of varied backgrounds and learning styles.
Excellent listening, written and strong verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong work ethic and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through in a timely manner.
Ability to work independently as well as effective team member.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite as well as ability to learn software and database programs.
Ability to travel to nearby locations up to 20% of the time.

Minimum Qualification

 

High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years experience in customer service, administrative support, human resources, recruitment, placement, selection, compensation, benefits administration, labor relations, occupational analysis, processing personnel transactions, or eligibility determination in a public and/or social welfare program. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

 
Office setting. Sitting for long periods of time viewing computer monitor. Repetitive hand movement. Standing, walking, lifting up to 20lbs. Use of computer, copier and telephone. This role will include occasional travel to nearby offices up to 20%, within approximately a two-hour radius, to assist with coverage needs. Travel may be required to include overnight stays.
