About this role
Smile Train is a global cleft-focused nonprofit organization providing comprehensive cleft care through trained medical professionals. The Temporary Junior Accountant will support the global finance team during an ERP conversion by maintaining financial records, processing transactions, performing reconciliations, cleaning financial data, and assisting with reporting and administrative finance projects.
What you'll do:
- Enter, code, and track daily financial transactions and vendor invoices accurately within the accounting system
- Process corporate credit card statements, out-of-pocket employee expense reimbursements, and accounts payable (AP) items
- Assist in preparing and setting up vendor payments via ACH and wire transfers
- Organize and maintain digital filing systems for vendor records, banking details, and tax documentation
- Assist with financial data entry, data cleaning, and record deduplication ahead of system migration
- Perform basic Quality Control (QC) checks on migrated financial data to ensure accuracy between legacy records and the new system
- Help cross-reference and verify general ledger (GL) entries, vendor list information, and historical transactions
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and routine general ledger reviews under supervision
- Assist with basic month-end schedules, including prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, fixed assets, and AP aging reports
- Review transactions against department budgets to ensure proper account and cost-center coding
- Provide administrative support to the finance team by gathering audit schedules and pulling supporting documentation
- Execute other administrative duties and special data-entry or reporting projects assigned by supervisors
What they're looking for:
- * Bachelor's orMaster's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related quantitative field
- * Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Complex formulas)
- * Base understanding of accounting standards and accrual basis accounting concepts
- * 0-2 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally from a related internship or entry-level role
