Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced ETL Tester to validate data movement, transformation logic, data quality, and reporting accuracy across enterprise data warehouse and analytics platforms. The candidate will work closely with development, business, and QA teams to understand requirements, prepare test scenarios, execute data validation, identify defects, and ensure end-to-end data integrity across source, staging, and target systems. Key Responsibilities Analyze business requirements, mapping documents, technical design documents, and data flow specifications to identify test scope and scenarios. Prepare detailed test scenarios, test cases, test data, SQL validation scripts, and expected results for ETL and data warehouse testing. Perform source-to-target data validation across databases, files, staging tables, data marts, and reporting layers. Validate transformation rules, joins, lookups, filters, aggregations, incremental loads, historical loads, CDC logic, and reconciliation rules. Execute backend database testing using complex SQL queries, joins, subqueries, analytical functions, and stored procedures where required. Perform data quality checks including completeness, accuracy, consistency, duplication, null checks, format validation, and referential integrity checks. Validate flat files and structured files such as CSV, XML, JSON, and other source file formats using Unix/Linux commands where applicable. Identify, log, track, and retest defects using tools such as JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps, or similar defect management platforms. Collaborate with developers, business analysts, data engineers, reporting teams, and product owners to clarify requirements and resolve data issues. Support end-to-end testing, system integration testing, regression testing, migration testing, and report validation activities. Prepare test execution status reports, defect summaries, test closure reports, and traceability documentation. Participate in Agile ceremonies, daily stand-ups, defect triage calls, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings. Required Skills Strong hands-on experience in ETL testing, data warehouse testing, database testing, and data migration validation. Excellent SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries for data validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis. Good understanding of ETL concepts, ELT concepts, data warehouse architecture, dimensional modeling, staging layers, and reporting layers. Experience working with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, DB2, MySQL, or similar platforms. Knowledge of ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM DataStage, Azure Data Factory, Matillion, Talend, or equivalent tools. Experience in validating batch jobs, file loads, data pipelines, incremental loads, and scheduled workflows. Working knowledge of Unix/Linux commands for file validation, log analysis, and basic troubleshooting. Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, ALM, qTest, Azure DevOps, or SpiraPlan. Ability to analyze data issues, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings clearly to technical and business stakeholders. Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile methodology, test lifecycle processes, and quality assurance best practices. Preferred Skills Exposure to cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Experience with Snowflake, AWS Athena, S3, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Big Data, Hadoop, Hive, or Spark-based environments. Experience in BI/report validation using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, OBIEE, MicroStrategy, or SAP BOBJ. Knowledge of automation approaches for ETL testing using Python, shell

Key Responsibilities

1. To design and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for assigned software modules and features.
2. To utilize automation tools and frameworks to increase test efficiency and coverage to perform various types of testing (functional, regression, usability, and API testing).
3. To identify, reproduce, and document software defects according to established procedures.
4. To proactively partner with developers to analyze, prioritize, and verify defect resolutions, while actively participating in test reviews to drive continuous improvement and best practice sharing.
5. To stay up-to-date with the latest testing trends and technologies and contribute to the creation and maintenance of test automation frameworks/ libraries.
