About this role

The company seeks summer interns for its Technology Development Program AI Engineering Track to build AI-driven technical solutions, collaborate with mentors and cross-functional partners, and participate in technical and leadership development.

What you'll do:

  • Contribute within the Artificial Intelligence track by building impactful technical solutions that drive innovation across The Cigna Group while strengthening your real-world skills
  • Learn by doing alongside peers, mentors, and cross-functional partners through hands-on projects, recruiting support, innovation efforts, community initiatives, and onboarding experiences
  • Grow through a blend of core and track-specific curriculum, including technical training, leadership development, and business exposure to support your development as a well-rounded technologist
  • Build strong relationships across the organization through networking, mentorship, cross-functional collaboration, and informal peer engagement that support both personal and professional growth

What they're looking for:

  • Must be currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on machine learning methodologies and applications
  • Foundational understanding of machine learning concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, with experience applying them through coursework, projects, research, or prior experience
  • Working knowledge of Python and exposure to machine learning or generative AI libraries and frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Hugging Face, or similar tools
  • Experience in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and data visualization using tools such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib to prepare data sets for model training
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate complex data into actionable insights through machine learning applications
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts and findings to nontechnical audiences and foster collaboration across teams
  • A proactive attitude toward continuous learning and staying current on machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies
  • The role requires a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days per week working onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, and one additional day of the employee's choice), and the option to work the remaining days remotely. Employees must be able to meet the onsite schedule
  • You must be available to work a 40-hour work week beginning May 24th, 2027. Working days are Monday – Friday
  • This position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who do not now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship including, but not limited to, H-1B, CPT/OPT/STEM
  • Exposure to model evaluation, prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, large language models, or responsible AI practices through coursework, projects, research, or prior experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with big data technologies and platforms such as Apache Spark or Hadoop is a plus
