General Description:
The Data Engineer II (Data Analyst IV) is an early-to-mid level data engineering role responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting data pipelines and data models in Snowflake under the guidance of senior engineers. This role focuses on building reliable data solutions, learning best practices, and contributing to team-delivered outcomes. Works under limited supervision, with substantial latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position reports directly to the Director of DataOps on the Data Management team.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines using Snowflake and standard data integration tools.
Write and optimize SQL queries to support analytics and reporting use cases
Implement data transformations and basic data models following established patterns.
Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot routine data quality or performance issues.
Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and application teams on data requirements.
Follow data engineering standards, security practices, and documentation guidelines.
Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers.
Enhances a culture that embraces continuous improvement, utilizing best in class approaches to data intake, storage, and preparation for analysis with particular focus on automation.  
Collaborates with internal Information Systems and Solutions team on data management agreements, policies, controls, and standards, including data security, privacy, and confidentiality.
Ensures data elements, business processes, and reporting standards are defined, documented, implemented, and understood by THECB data users in collaboration with data governance teams.
Collaborates closely with Data Management & Research leadership 
Performs related work as assigned.

Knowledge Skills or Abilities:
Working knowledge of Snowflake and cloud-based data warehousing concepts.
Proficiency in SQL and basic query optimization techniques.
Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python).
Familiarity with ELT/ETL pipelines and data transformation concepts
Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge and experience in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban environment 
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to data management and data governance

Required In-Office Days:
This position is eligible for 100% remote work subject to approval.

Required Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred:
Two (2) to Four (4) years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role.
One (1) plus year of hands-on experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse.
Two (2) plus years' experience working as a data analyst and/or modeler in a data warehouse, data lake, operational data store, or similar.
Experience working with SAS and R.
Experience working in large, complex organizations.
Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks.
Familiarity with BI tools and analytics workflows.
Familiarity with data governance, access control, and security concepts.

Work is performed in a standard office environment and requires:
