Trading Analyst Intern, Rates

Garda Capital Partners is an alternative investment firm specializing in relative value strategies across fixed income markets. The Trading Analyst Intern will support the Rates Trading Desk by developing trading and risk-system solutions, conducting market and quantitative analysis, and assisting with research, back testing, and performance monitoring.

What you'll do:

• Shadow the rates trading desk in order to learn the day to day responsibilities of the investment team, from Analysts to Portfolio Managers
• Develop a fundamental understanding of the Rates market and its main products including bonds, futures, swaps and options
• Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify potential trading opportunities and assess the risk of new and existing strategies
• Complete projects for the desk including trade ideas with presentation to the investment team
• Support the team’s research process, including data collection and analysis, prototyping, back testing, and performance monitoring

What they're looking for:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in finance, economics, etc
• Quantitative & programming skills (Python & SQL)
• Knowledge and interest in financial markets
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a broader team
• Intellectual curiosity and motivation to innovate and improve
• Prior experience in rates markets is not necessary
