DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will lead a bridge inspection team and ensure that structures are evaluated safely and accurately across the district. The work you will do supports statewide efforts to maintain safe, dependable infrastructure. As a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor - Bridge Inspection, you will perform the following duties:
- Field Inspections: Conduct inspections of bridge structures and evaluate conditions of components such as beams, decks, bearings, and supports
- Team Leadership: Guide and support inspection staff, assign tasks, and review completed work for accuracy
- Record Management: Maintain inspection documents, forms, photographs, and system data to ensure accurate reporting
- Safety Coordination: Work with internal and external partners to safely access bridges and follow safety procedures
- Equipment Oversight: Manage inspection equipment, ensure proper maintenance, and identify needs for replacements or upgrades

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or
- Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position is required to meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards.
- This position requires possession of a valid non- commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
You must be eligible for selection in accordance with merit system employment regulations.

- Class Restrictions for Promotion Without Examination Only - You must have or have held regular civil service status in one of the following classifications:
- Transportation Construction Inspector
- Employees who previously held regular civil service status in the job title of the position being filled are also eligible for promotion without examination.
- The promotion without examination requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
- Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
- Applicants must have a minimum of one year in the next lower class by the posting closing date with no break in service.
