Job Location: Central Office, 105 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO

Two opportunities are available. One position will support our Analytics area, while the other will work within our Statewide Planning area.

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $56,712.48and a senior starting salary of $61,249.40.

The transportation planner conducts transportation planning studies, including data collection, analysis, and reporting related to all modes of transportation. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

What you’ll do:   

  • Analyzes business data needs and develops reporting solutions including Power BI dashboards and other analytical tools to deliver clear, actionable insights for the department.
  • Conducts data gathering and validation; reviews information for accuracy and prepares analyses of collected data.
  • Develops and maintains datasets, data models, spreadsheets, and Power Platform workflows to improve reporting efficiency.
  • Serves as a liaison with internal stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and ensure data accuracy and usability.
  • Learns and applies SQL to support data extraction, transformation, and long‑term business intelligence development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Business Administration, Economic Development, Engineering, Planning, Public Administration, or related field, OR
  • Four years of experience in transportation planning or engineering.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
