Position Duties
This position focuses on drafting and technical design work that supports roadway projects and improves transportation systems. Your primary responsibilities will entail creating plans, reviewing project details, and working closely with engineers and designers to keep projects on schedule. As a Transportation Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Drafting Work: Prepare roadway plans and technical drawings using Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and other design software
- Design Support: Assist with minor roadway designs, grade lines, drainage layouts, and project calculations
- Plan Review: Examine construction and right-of-way plans for accuracy and completeness
- Field Investigations: Visit project sites to observe terrain, drainage, and other physical conditions for design use
- Project Coordination: Communicate with engineers, designers, and municipalities to complete assignments on time
- Data Application: Apply survey notes, engineering data, and aerial photographs when preparing plans
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
