The UCC Building Inspector 2 position with the Bureau of Occupational and Industrial Safety offers an exciting opportunity to help keep communities safe. Position Duties
This role focuses on inspecting buildings and construction projects to ensure they meet the requirements of the Uniform Construction Code and other safety laws. You help safeguard public spaces by reviewing plans, identifying hazards, and promoting compliance. As a UCC Building Inspector 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Building Inspections: Perform inspections of public and private buildings to verify compliance with safety, accessibility, and construction standards
- Plan Review: Examine construction plans and alterations to ensure they follow state laws and approved designs
- Compliance Checks: Report unsafe conditions and conduct follow-up inspections to confirm correction of violations
- Safety Investigations: Investigate public sector work locations to determine if structures, equipment, and materials meet safety requirements
- Regulatory Enforcement: Recommend stop work orders and support enforcement actions through hearings and legal processes
- Professional Coordination: Maintain effective working relationships with contractors, architects, engineers, building owners, and code officials

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Travel to remote locations is required.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience inspecting commercial, industrial, or other public use buildings for compliance with building and safety codes; or
- Four years of building construction work which included the performance of skilled trades duties in the electrical, structural, plumbing, or mechanical trades; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an Accessibility Inspector/Plan Examiner, Building Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, and Energy Inspector.
Condition of Employment:
- You must possess a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
- You must reside in or be willing to relocate to Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia County before the date of hire.
