Undergraduate Water Research Fellowship (Dr. Marron)

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student in environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field
• Interest in environmental chemistry, water quality, and/or environmental engineering research
• Ability to follow laboratory procedures and safety requirements carefully
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently after training and as part of a research team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Previous laboratory or research experience is desirable but not required

Duties

Assist with environmental chemistry research focused on water quality and contaminants in engineered treatment systems. Duties may include preparing laboratory solutions and samples; conducting bench-scale experiments; collecting and processing water samples; performing routine chemical analyses; maintaining laboratory records; and entering, organizing, and analyzing experimental data. The student will receive training in relevant laboratory methods, instrumentation, research practices, and laboratory safety.

Work Schedule

Flexible schedule arranged around the student’s class schedule. Work will generally occur during normal weekday laboratory hours. Regular blocks of at least 2–3 hours are preferred for laboratory work.
