What You'll Do

As US Retirement Director, you will lead all aspects of BCG’s US qualified retirement plans, supporting ~18,000 participants and overseeing ~$5 billion in plan assets. You will have end-to-end responsibility for the defined contribution (DC) and Managing Director and Partner only defined benefit (DB) plans, ensuring both programs are compliant, operationally effective, and responsive to evolving participant and business needs.

You will set the direction for BCG’s retirement plan design and administration while partnering with senior leaders and teams across the firm. You will lead a team of two retirement professionals and oversee a broad network of external advisors and service providers, bringing deep retirement expertise and sound judgment to complex regulatory, fiduciary, operational, and participant matters.

  • Lead retirement plan strategy, design, and change initiatives, assessing regulatory requirements, market practices, participant needs, and broader business impact.

  • Oversee ongoing 401(k) and retirement plan administration, including payroll and administrator integrations (to support enrollments, terminations, demographic changes, and elections), biweekly funding, QDROs, and resolution of operational issues.

  • Direct retirement plan compliance and regulatory processes, including Form 5500 and Form 8955 filings, PBGC reporting, annual audits and nondiscrimination testing, fiduciary insurance requirements, annual funding notices, participant disclosures, and other regulatory obligations.

  • Maintain retirement plan documents and governance records, coordinating annual amendments and ensuring contracts, processes, key decisions, and other critical records are complete, current, and accessible.

  • Manage relationships with ERISA legal counsel, financial advisor, defined contribution and defined benefit plan administrators, actuaries, accountants, custodian, and other vendors; lead periodic RFPs, contract negotiations, service reviews, and oversee invoicing and billing.

  • Lead retirement governance and senior leadership engagement, including hosting quarterly Retirement Benefit Committee meetings and annual plan reviews for the System Chair, CFO, and Retirement Benefit Committee; prepare materials and recommendations to support effective plan decisions.

  • Partner across internal teams at BCG including Tax, Accounting, Payroll, IT, Partner Services, HR, and executive leadership on all retirement matters including plan governance, fiduciary matters, funding, regulatory developments, and complex retirement issues.

  • Design and deliver retirement communications, financial wellness campaigns, webinars, and annual participant outreach, including 401(k) and beneficiary communications; coordinate with financial wellness partners and North America interest groups and clubs. Educate and train HR teams and local leaders on BCG retirement plans.

  • Educate Managing Directors and Partners on BCG retirement programs, including MDP Orientation sessions and required plan communications .

  • Resolve complex and escalated participant matters involving employees, Managing Directors and Partners, and former or international participants; oversee team in individual meetings with departing MDPs and other employees addressing sensitive retirement matters.

  • Lead key retirement projects, including:

    • Updates to the annual DC calculation model.
    • Review of DB plan design and possible replacement.
    • Implementation of regulatory changes and associated plan, process, and participant communication updates as needed.
  • Lead and develop two retirement professionals, overseeing participant support and the US Retirement employee inquiry channel while establishing clear processes, controls, documentation, and continuity across retirement operations.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 7-10 years of relevant leadership experience required, including experience managing US qualified retirement plans.

  • Deep knowledge of defined contribution and defined benefit plans, including 401(k) administration, ERISA requirements, plan governance, and regulatory compliance, strongly preferred.

  • Experience leading complex analytical processes, including annual calculations, funding, audits, plan amendments, payroll integrations, and participant transactions, strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage third-party vendors and advisors, including plan administrators, legal counsel, financial advisors, auditors, and actuaries.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with experience developing teams, resolving complex issues, and advising senior leaders on retirement and fiduciary matters.
