The Communicable Disease Bureau (CDB) within the Center for Healthy and Safe Communities (CHSC) oversees programs to respond to common infectious diseases including HIV, STD, hepatitis and TB, while also providing services for child and adult immunization/vaccination and refugee health. A number of programs are partially funded with grants from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) including HIV prevention, STD, hepatitis, TB and immunization. The bureau sets policies and clinical protocols and manages contracts to reduce the spread of communicable disease across New Mexico.

Why does the job exist?

 
The Vaccines for Children Coordinator reviews and approves vaccine orders for distribution for providers enrolled with the Immunization Program that provide pediatric vaccine in the state. New Mexico is a universal vaccine purchase state that provides vaccines for all children at no cost to families.  Vaccine access statewide is a high priority to ensure children are being protected by vaccine preventable diseases.

How does it get done?

 
Process Vaccines for Children orders for distribution to enrolled providers
Uploading of provider Master Data, inventories, and orders including flu
Respond to VFC Provider needs via phone and emails daily
Assist with Provider Recruitment of VFC providers.
Review assessments and approval to provide support to the VFC Health Educator and VFC Manager
Sends out all emails to VFC provider for bi-weekly and urgent emails.
Maintaining and organizing electronic provider files.
Assists with presentations and updates surrounding vaccine ordering and processes
Attend Outreach events
Provide updates and input for the Vaccines for Children Newsletter

Public Health Offices, Providers, School Health Based Centers, Hospitals

Ideal Candidate

 
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Customer Service experience
Experience with ordering supplies
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Organizing and tracking files, projects and tasks.

Minimum Qualification

 
High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Working Conditions

 
Office setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
