About this role
Job Overview
Stellantis is seeking a Vehicle Access Validation Lead who will be responsible for validating Vehicle Access components, based on E/E & Access validation test plans and procedures.
Specializes in ensuring that individual software modules, electronic parts, and components function correctly and meet their specific design requirements and quality standards.
Will require extensive collaboration with the suppliers, DRE’s, cross-functional team on issue management, test procedures (manual/automation), tracking software updates for fixes, validate the integrity of component test benches and review executions.
Capable of using CAN testing tools and traditional electrical testing equipment in an electrical lab atmosphere to test and troubleshoot on vehicles. This role requires the leadership of a team of Test & Validation (T&V) engineers based both in metro Detroit and in India.
Develop close collaboration with feature owners, engineering, extended teams, and suppliers to maintain a strong understanding of the EE functions for early identification of defects, and to provide evidence of defect elimination.
Will also be responsible for continuous improvements on test plans, replication of issues and testing procedures.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead a T&V team in developing core documents including, but not limited to, core electrical system test procedures, and global harmonization of test norms.
Develop new and innovative ways to test vehicles on issues more efficiently and more comprehensively, develop testing team members to support issues with suppliers, at plant and on vehicles. - Work closely with regulatory on domestic compliance and with Homologation and Witness agencies to ensure global compliance of EE components where applicable.
- Review and approve test plans, procedures and reports to ensure complete test coverage – verifying the system meets its requirements and validating that the system performs in accordance with Stellantis’ expectations.
Establish scale validation objectives and key results for and with individual team members. - Work with T&V team to troubleshoot ECUs, System HIL and test environment functionality to minimize false positive incident reports.
- Familiarity with electrical debugging tools such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, CAN diagnostic tools (CANoe/CANalyzer), current probes and other diagnostic equipment.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- A minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical systems design, development, or test engineering
- Demonstrated experience with DFMEA and DVP&R processes.
- Trained in DVP (Design Validation Plan) and DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).
- Experience in validation of complex systems
- Experience with Environmental simulation test equipment such as temperatures test/chambers, vibration systems, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CAN bus and experience using Vector CAN tools (CAN diagnostic tools, CANoe, CANalyzer.)
- Communication bus (ETH/CAN / LIN / other) operation knowledge and experience in using diagnostic tools
- Demonstrated experience with electrical debugging tools such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, current probes, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Demonstrated experience performing vehicle and system level validation.
- Strong leadership skills without micromanagement
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Certified problem-solving skills (DFSS or Reactive Quality Green Belt or Reactive Quality Black Belt).
- Ability to multitask many assignments and coordinate testing for numerous Validation Test Engineers and programs at global sites
- Demonstrated system or component automated bench testing design experience including knowledge of programming languages (i.e., CAPL script, python).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university
- Electrical system design and manufacturing knowledge
- Experience with troubleshooting and root cause of electrical systems
- Ability to present concepts/strategies/project status to large groups
- DFSS Green Belt
