General Description and Classification Standards
The purpose of this position is to assist in supervising employees responsible for the preparation and processing of warrants, stolen vehicles, missing persons and other related record entries into the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC); verifying active warrants; coordinating communications related for the removal and cancellation of warrants and other GCIC record entries; conducting criminal and driver history inquiries through the GCIC database. This position also supports clerical functions related to GCIC operations and other related City operations. Working knowledge of the Axon Records management system. The employee must be able to perform all assigned tasks independently as well as in a supervisory support capacity.

Incumbent may perform other duties not articulated in this job description as determined by the GBI, Department, Managers, Supervisor and EICs assigned. May sometimes be assigned to train other technicians.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
- Assist GCIC Supervisor, coordinate activities and facilitate or conduct training.
- Have the ability to make sound decisions for the GCIC staff in the absence of a supervisor.
- Assist the GCIC supervisor with daily administrative tasks that could include but are not limited to maintaining unit logs, checking the assigned shift’s work for accuracy and completeness, communicate necessary information to the next shift, maintain the detainer box, and ensure that the required work is complete before the next shift.
- Extend customer care in a confidential professional manner to External and Internal customers at all times.
- Verify that all Warrant packages are completed in its entirety and contain all documents needed before being accepted for Entry.
- ENTER, CLEAR/CANCEL, MODIFY Warrants, Missing/Unidentified Persons, Vehicles and Articles onto the GCIC System.
- Ensure the data that is entered onto the GCIC System is correct and entered in the mandated allotted time by GCIC
- Make copies, collate and file all completed documents; contact Investigator/Officer via e-mail (CC Supervisor) when wanted subject is apprehended or no longer wanted.
- Contact vehicle owners by phone and mail once vehicles have been found and CLEARED from the GCIC System.
- May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully, it is not an exhaustive list.
- Has thorough knowledge of The Atlanta Police Department policies and procedures, City of Atlanta and State codes, ordinances and laws.
- Has thorough knowledge of Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) rules and regulations.
- Has the ability to operate GCIC terminals to run criminal and driver’s history records.
- Has the ability to read and interpret criminal and driver’s history records.
- Has the ability to handle/maintain confidential information.
- Has knowledge of warrant processing procedures.
- Has the ability to compile, organize, prepare and maintain an assortment of records and information in an effective manner and according to court operations and regulations.
- Has knowledge of the terminology used within the court system.
- Has the ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers and the general public.
- Has the ability to operate a computer and use automated case management system for input, retrieval and tracking of data.
- Has the ability to be flexible with work schedules requiring shift work.
- Has the ability to work under stress related to duties that require constant attention to detail and tight deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED and five (5) or more years of work experience in a judicial, law enforcement, or jail environment, including experience entering and validating criminal warrants through GCIC required; OR
- A college degree in Criminal Justice or a related field and at least four (4) years of work experience in a judicial, law enforcement, or jail environment, including experience entering and validating criminal and traffic warrants through GCIC required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, relevant professional certifications, and experience deemed to provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
- Experience running, and interpreting criminal and driver’s history checks required.
- Ability to work various shifts as necessary required.
In addition to the experience requirements above, one of the required years of experience would be within the Atlanta Police Department GCIC unit or within a GCIC with similar job requirements that a disciplinary history could be obtained.
- A required disciplinary history would consist of no more than one adverse action, and/or no more than three non-adverse actions with the previous year of working in a GCIC position. There could also be no current open investigations.
- At minimum a satisfactory rating on the two most recent employee evaluations.
Licensures and Certifications
Current Georgia Crime Information Center entry-level certification and the ability to annually maintain GCIC Certification at the entry certification level within given timeframes is required for this position.
Preferred Requirements
Supervisory or team lead experience preferred.

Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with job.
Lifting Requirements: Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of job-related machines and/or office equipment. Must be able to accurately enter data into a computer through typing or other equally acceptable entry alternatives. Must be able to move or carry job related objects or materials. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary or office environment work. Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time without a break.
