About the Department
As a Water Program Specialist with the Department of Environmental Protection, you will be part of a team that supports statewide drinking water oversight. This position gives you the opportunity to help manage data systems, develop guidance, and support program operations. Position Duties
This position supports statewide drinking water programs by helping manage data systems, develop procedures, and provide technical guidance. You will play a key role in organizing information that supports compliance, planning, and monitoring efforts. As a Water Program Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Data Management: Maintain drinking water data systems and ensure accurate inputs from water systems and laboratories
- Regulatory Interpretation: Develop and apply compliance algorithms based on state and federal regulations
- Technical Guidance: Prepare instructions and respond to questions from staff, laboratories, and water suppliers
- Training Support: Create and deliver training on data requirements, system use, and reporting procedures
- Statistical Analysis: Use analytical tools to evaluate water quality data and prepare reports and graphics
- Program Coordination: Work with state and federal agencies to share information and support coordinated program needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position will require travel
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of professional environmental protection experience; and a bachelor’s degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional environmental protection experience.
