Join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.  This is a part-time, hourly position working up to 29 hours per week.


Peer Counselor positions are located in the county nearest to the employee's residence and will require travel to other counties.  This is not a remote position.  Positions will report to work daily in one of the county health departments located in Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, or Walker.

Breastfeeding Peer Counselor 1  - $16/hour
Breastfeeding Peer Counselor 2  - $17/hour
Breastfeeding Peer Counselor 3  - $18/hour


Position Duties


Under general supervision, provides basic patient care and works with patients/clients to develop daily living skills. Counsels and gives breastfeeding information and support to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, including informing them about the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and getting a good start with breastfeeding.  Also, assists breastfeeding mothers in preventing and handling common breastfeeding concerns.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in breastfeeding at least one baby for a period of at least six months and has been or is currently a WIC participant.

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. 

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Employment Information

CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. CBH may contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
  
 The District Human Resource Department must receive an official transcript and/or proof of licenses, certifications prior to employment.
