The Office on Women's Health is an interdisciplinary team working to help solve some of Missouri's most urgent public health crises. This role offers a unique opportunity to directly contribute to the reduction of maternal deaths. By ensuring every relevant detail available about every maternal death is captured and communicated to the Pregnancy Associated Mortality Review Board, you will be able to be a part of a team that is making a meaningful impact for moms in Missouri. 

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate.  If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck.  A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

  • Abstract and analyze detailed medical data, including prenatal records, labor and delivery records, emergency room visits, triage visits, birth certificates, death records, newspaper articles, obituaries, police records and coroner/autopsy reports. Enter, track, and manage data in CDC database, MMRIA.
  • Prepare and provide case summaries to support maternal mortality review by the PAMR Board.
  • Participate in maternal mortality review meetings and ensure the board's decisions are entered accurately and efficiently into MMRIA.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain expertise in the field and and participate in continous quality improvement intiatives to improve team workflows.
  • Support maternal and neonatal levels of care designation activities by interpreting survey results and providing technical assistance as needed.
  • Support the Office on Women's Health with health promotion materials and strategies.

Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Missouri and 5 years of experience as a registered nurse. At least two years' must be in labor and delivery and/or obstetric and gyncology nursing.
  • Ability to read and summarize medical records.
  • This position requires a high level of written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate is someone who can build trust, develop impactful partnerships, and has excellent networking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, translating complex public health concepts for target audiences into straightforward, actionable information and recommendations.
  • Experience using technology and various computer programs (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, video-conferencing, and online survey platforms) for coordinating activities and project reporting.     
  • Demonstrated experience with social media sites, Google and Microsoft suites.
  • The ability to comprehend and interpret policies and laws is highly desired.
