About the Department
- The Labor Inspector I position is a full-time Safety Consultant role within the West Virginia Division of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Consultation Program. This role focuses on providing voluntary, non-enforcement compliance assistance, through safety consultations, to high-hazard, private-sector employers.
- Candidates are home based and will travel within their area of assignment to conduct safety consultations. These consultations will consist of identifying various types of hazards, assisting with interim protection for serious hazards, provide abatement recommendations, providing informal and formal training to employees and management, and assist with S&H OSHA Programs, and OSHA Recordkeeping requirements.
- Candidates must be self-driven, detail-oriented, communicative, willing to learn, and comfortable managing their own schedules.
- Accurate reporting in the OSHA Information System (OIS) and the ability to use Google Suite are required.
- Candidates must have a valid driver's license.
- Candidates must be able to lift 25lbs.
- Travel expenses are reimbursable.
- Training at the OSHA Training Institute in Arlington, IL is required.
- Hands-on training and shadowing will be provided.
- Experience with Occupational Safety and Health is highly preferred but not required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
