Job description

Job Summary:
Depending on business needs, the Logistics Clerk may perform duties related to Receiving, Shipping, Inventory Control, and Kitting, as well as assist in training coworkers on these tasks. Cross-training within the department is highly encouraged.

Second shift: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm.

Essential Job Functions:

Receiving duties:
• Manage Receiving Hold and Inspection with Purchasing and Customer Service
• Keep the receiving area clean and organized at all time
• Unload / Inspect incoming freight for damage. Routes items to appropriate department for further inspection.
• Report any damages, shortages or overages in shipments.
• Responsible for maintaining records of each incoming shipment, including the type and date.
• Coordinate with Purchasing on purchase orders / Coordinate with Quality and
Customer Support
• Representatives on Customers LRU's.
• Work with others in the department to ensure department's efficiency.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works under immediate supervision and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
• Operates forklift or hand truck when applicable to remove or load onto freight truck.

Shipping duties:
• Ensure all parts or units are shipped out the same day to the proper location
• Check paperwork coming from Quality to ensure that it matches with the parts to be shipped out.
• Ensure proper packaging and handling for all parts and units.
• Assure proper shipping services per the customer requests.
• Be able to identify what is restricted or not for the Department of Transportation (DOT) and know how to ship out hazardous materials in an appropriate manner.
• Schedule the shipment's pick up and arrange its transport to the loading platform.
• Responsible for maintaining records of each shipment, including the type and date.
• Establish shipping rates and any other necessary charges.
• Ensure that international shipments have the appropriate customs paperwork.
• Respond to customer inquires about the status of shipments
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works under immediate supervision and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Inventory Control duties:
• Perform cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory.
• Transfer bins in the warehouse from one storage location to another.
• Troubleshoot missing units and reconcile incorrect repair orders.
• Pull stock for exchanges.
• Assist in the shelf life management of all LRU parts.
• Reprint labels for incorrect/damaged label on inventory.
• Reconfigure warehouse to optimize space per management instruction.

Kitting duties:
• Locates stock and delivers items to their destination upon request.
• Ensures incoming deliveries are accurate and stocks supply room with new goods
• Checks order forms, delivery requests, and approval forms to ensure proper documentation.

Required Competencies

Education / Experience:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience working in a stock room in a manufacturing environment
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. green card holder), political asylee or refugee
• No relocation is provided for this position. Only candidates residing within a 50-mile radius will be considered.

• HazMat (Hazardous Materials) certification.
• Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
• Forklift experience (for big crates and pallets).

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office and laboratory. Constantly operates and use a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier/printer and laboratory machinery. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds across office for various needs.

Work Environment
The work environment is split between office & laboratory work, with most work being performed in the office. Noise level in the office is typically quiet while the noise level in the lab can occasionally require hearing protection.

Experience in relevant Business sector

Experience within aerospace industry a plus but not required.
