OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN (SEASONAL: OCTOBER - MAY)

Location: Rapid City, SD

Job Summary: This Seasonal Operations Technician assists with event setup, custodial tasks, basic building maintenance, and grounds work from October through May. The position involves active, physical work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions and requires the ability to follow direction, work as part of a team, and safely perform routine maintenance duties. This position works in 3 different assigned shifts including a morning shift from 6am – 2:30pm, an afternoon shift from 2pm – 10:30pm, and an overnight shift from 10pm – 6:30am. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with basic event preparation and setup.
• Sweep, mop, wax, and buff floors; clean restrooms; wash walls and windows; vacuum carpets; empty trash; operate trash compactor.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks using hand and power tools as directed.
• Pick up debris; remove snow using shovels, blowers, sweepers, sanders, and plows; apply ice-melt; mow and trim grass using mowers and weed eaters.
• Operate basic equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support facility operations.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• 1 year of commercial maintenance or cleaning experience is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is preferred.
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently in a team environment.

Work Environment:

• Frequent exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and occasional work at heights.
• Regular exposure to environmental debris, allergens, and cleaning or maintenance chemicals.
• Occasional work in outdoor conditions, including extreme cold and heat, and potential electrical hazards.
• Work environment is typically very loud.
• Regular standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, and balancing; frequent use of hands for handling and operation of tools and equipment.
• Regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs; frequently up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Requires close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
