Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate employer engagement and workforce development initiatives for Career & Technical Education programs.
- Work with the academic program faculty to assist them in launching and reviving their engagement with industry partners.
- Assist academic programs with developing best practices, conducting research, meeting facilitation, and engagement with external partners.
- Help to ensure that program curriculum is closely aligned with industry needs for entry level positions.
- Facilitate, together with Career Services, work-based educational opportunities such as internships.
- Develop and refine standardized feedback mechanisms from program industry boards.
- Maintain and update an advisory committee handbook for program faculty and guidebook for participants.
- Assist with convening regular meetings between faculty and industry professionals.
- Provide guidance and advice on best practices for academic program and industry partnerships.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Social Sciences, a CTE program offered at Honolulu Community College, or related field and three (3) year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program development, industry partnerships, apprenticeships, partnership development, grant writing, fund development, training, or marketing; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of CTE program development, partnership development, grant writing, fund development, training, or marketing as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with program development, partnership development, grant writing, fund development, training, or marketing.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, employers, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer or apply word processing software.
- If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Demonstrated experience developing partnerships between education programs and industry partners.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in both higher education and industry workplaces.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with CTE faculty and staff in a college setting as well as professionals in a variety of workplaces.
- Considerable working knowledge of the Hawaii workplace landscape.
- Considerable working knowledge of the programs and offerings of Honolulu Community College.
