RAPID TRANSIT LABORER

Location: Rapid City, SD
 
Job Summary: This position will be tending to the upkeep of bus shelters and stops around Rapid City. Daily cleaning and some light maintenance and groundskeeping. This is a Part-time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·       Cleaning bus shelters and stops.
·       Light maintenance at bus shelters and stops.
·       Operates a city-owned vehicle to travel safety and efficiently between service locations.
·       Operates essential equipment such as a pressure washer, cleaning supplies, trimmer, hand shears and shovels.
·       Snow removal at shelters and stops. Some snow removal at bus depot and bus barn.
·       Provides excellent customer service when engaging with visitors and staff, fostering a welcoming and well-maintained environment.
·       Ensures compliance with all health and safety standards, including hazardous material handling.
·       Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
·       High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
·       Must possess a valid South Dakota driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days from date of hire
·       General custodial and maintenance experience preferred
 
Work Environment:
·       The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
·       The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
