Job Summary: Operates in the areas of Solid Waste Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Solid Waste Operator I: ($50,217 - 60,212)
- Operates solid waste equipment such as, rear loader, front end loader, forklift, skid steer, and/or yard waste processing equipment such as yard waste turner and screening.
- Must perform duties to standard operations and safety defined by each appropriate equipment manufacturer and industry standards; reads and interprets appropriate instruction and/or construction plans.
- Performs basic maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Snow removal/sanding operations.
Solid Waste Operator II: ($55,239 - $66,233)
- Operates roll off truck, garbage collections truck, motor grader, scraper, baler, semi-truck tractor and walking floor trailer, yard waste grinder, automated collection truck, and to include equipment in the Collections, MRF, Co-Compost Facility and Landfill.
- When working in operations requiring grading and excavation, shall be capable of constructing to final grade.
Qualifications:
- Solid Waste Operator I: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one-year related experience and/or training. Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Solid Waste Operator II: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years related experience and/or training. Must possess a valid South Dakota Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
