YOUR FUTURE TEAM
As part of TCEQ's Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. See details about what we do.
This position is a member of our Waste Permits Division.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Answer phones and greet visitors for the office/division at the front desk, provide routine information, take messages, and/or refer to appropriate staff; coordinate daily break/relief schedules; maintain front desk filing systems including the division phone and staff directory.
- Prepare incoming and outgoing electronic and hard-copy mail and other routine and special correspondence; conduct basic processing and data entry for electronic and hard-copy correspondence regarding Industrial & Hazardous Waste, Scrap Tire Management, and Municipal Solid Waste permits and authorizations; maintain and assist with the development of related standard operating procedures.
- Respond to requests for information from customers via written and verbal communication; provide administrative support to the division and other administrative staff with routine and special tasks and/or projects.
- Assist with development and improvement of division-wide administrative policies and procedures.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience answering, screening, and/or routing telephone calls; or assisting walk-in customers.
- Data entry experience with attention to details or following standard operating procedures.
- Experience providing administrative support in an office setting.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand Spanish
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard senior high school or its equivalent plus one year of full-time experience providing administrative and/or clerical support in an office setting.
*Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.

Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the Waste Permits Division.
