Job Duties:

Performs complex work as a representative and advocate if inmates in a correctional facility; Work involves providing technical support to inmates in the disciplinary process and providing guidance to others. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

A. Performs technical work for the inmate disciplinary process with other staff, case management, application of policies and procedures, docket schedules, and quality control.

B. Notifies and interviews inmates charged with violations of agency, facility rules and regulations. explains charges to inmates, investigates allegations, prepares written statements, and obtains documentary evidence.

C. Analyzes inmates' positions, develops strategies of defense and advises inmates of alternative plans of action. represents inmates at disciplinary hearings; negotiates the mitigation of punishments and advises and assists inmates with disciplinary appellate procedures.

D. Assists with maintaining security of inmates.
