New grad HR roles
Entry-level HR professionals work in recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compensation and benefits, or people analytics. At tech companies, the title is often People Operations Associate or Talent Acquisition Coordinator. At larger corporations, you might start as an HR Generalist or HR Coordinator. The work is a mix of process, communication, and problem-solving.
Breaking into HR after graduation
HR is open to many majors: psychology, business, communications, and liberal arts grads all land these roles. What helps is showing you understand how organizations work and that you're good with people. Familiarity with HRIS platforms (Workday, BambooHR) and ATS tools (Greenhouse, Lever) is a plus. SHRM-CP certification isn't required at the entry level but shows commitment to the field.
